After some more or less random browsing and a bit of investigating about online ways of selling handmade objects, I decided to open a shop on Big Cartel. It seems like a nice website gathering a lot of brands, with great looking products.

Following, a comparison between Etsy and Big Cartel. But it looks like for Big Cartel you have to do your own marketing and bring the potential clients to your shop, chances of them just finding you there are not that high.

AdWords Tips

Thanks to the generosity of Google, I got a fairly nice amount of free money to use in AdWords!

So I started everything from scratch and created a new ad and did some fine tuning to the settings of the ad.

• My first advice would be to create the ad using your brand name in the title and the most important keyword that describes your business

• The next thing I did was making the ad available for the largest range of potential clients

• What I did next was fine tune the geographical locations where the ad will show. After having my shop online for about a year, I can safely say that most of my clients come from the U.S.A. So I picked the locations where possible clients can come from.

• I let AdWords handle the CPC (cost per click) automatic bidding, because I feel comfortable with that, for now.

• Keywords! Keywords are how your clients will find you. It is important to pick the exact right keywords for your business. Also, remember to use combinations of keywords! They may result in more useful traffic on your site.

My first attempt of this kind. Precious gemstones meet 14K gold filled wire.

Genuine rubies are amongst my favorite stones. Tourmalines are a bit more recent to my personal knowledge, but their lovely shades of pastel colors are truly beautiful.

My New Magazine - Design Jewelry and Accessories

I have been working quite hard during recent weeks on getting a new magazine out. It is called Design Jewelry and Accessories Magazine

I am starting this new magazine with a desire to present beautiful original jewelry and accessory designs from all over the world, as well as some tips for online marketing for web shops.

 Each issue will include a few main features, jewelry and accessories. It will also address beginner tips for making your own jewelry and online shops where you can buy supplies.

Design Jewelry and Accessories issue #1 features as main designer Pasi Torkkeli, from Finland. On the cover of the first issue you can see the necklace worn by Tarja Turunen (ex Nightwish singer) in the video I Walk Alone. The first issue has a total of 64 pages.

Another new way people browse online is a website called Pinterest.

I discovered it couple of weeks ago and it quickly because a site that I open every day. 

Here you can PIN items, photos, anything you find anywhere on the internet. You create boards for your pins. I use it mostly for creating collections of things I am interested in, beautiful places, artwork, products I would like to buy in the future. Here also you can connect to other people by following their boards, repinning interesting things you find there and commenting on their pins.
